To ensure that Humpty Dumpty is looking great in the air, there is a team of people that work with him to make sure he looks as good as he does. This group of people is called the Crew. The crew is made up of the pilot, crew chief and general crew. The pilot is the person who is in charge of the operation of the balloon including the inflation, flight, landing and inflation. The crew chief is the person who is in charge of making sure that every single crew person is in the correct place and all the jobs are taken care of. The rest of the crew are the people who do all the jobs. The crew jobs include such activities as unrolling the balloon for inflation, helping inflate the balloon, securing the crown line, deflating and packing up the balloon. The regular crew for the summer of 2003 is pilot Rich Lawhorn, crew chief Pat Lawhorn and crew member Zac Stokes. At each event Humpty had local volunteers for crew. Some of these people have crewed for Humpty at events in the past. Some however worked on Humpty Dumpty for the first time ever. We love all the crew we have had and are very thankful for their help.
